Rihanna Home While Woman Opens Fire With Rifle

A woman armed with an AR-15-style rifle fired multiple shots at Rihanna’s Los Angeles-area home on Sunday afternoon while the pop superstar was inside, according to the LAPD. No injuries were reported in the daylight shooting, and the suspect — a woman in her 30s — was taken into custody within 30 minutes, authorities said.

The shooting was reported to police at approximately 1:15 p.m. PT on March 8, according to NBC News. Officers responding to the 911 call found bullet holes in the front gate of the property and evidence that rounds had struck a vehicle parked outside the residence. Four rounds or fragments hit parts of the property, according to the LAPD.

The suspect fired the shots from a white Tesla parked across the street from the home, according to law enforcement sources cited by CBS Los Angeles. Seven assault rifle casings were recovered at the scene, LAPD officials told the outlet. The weapon was subsequently recovered by police.

After the shooting, the suspect fled the area in the white Tesla. Law enforcement tracked the vehicle approximately eight miles away to the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping center, where she was arrested, according to CBS Los Angeles. Variety reported, citing LAPD spokesperson Armen Arias, that the arrest came just 30 minutes after the initial 911 call was placed.

The LAPD and ABC7 Los Angeles identified the suspect as a 30-year-old woman, though her name had not been publicly released as of the time of reporting. Sources told the outlet that no shots penetrated the inside of the home, with damage limited to the exterior, the front gate, and a parked vehicle.

However, accounts varied slightly among outlets regarding the extent of the damage. CNN reported that shots hit the gate but not the house itself, while Variety reported that one round penetrated the home’s wall.

The incident occurred on the 9500 block of Heather Road in Beverly Crest, according to NBC Los Angeles, which reported that between seven and nine rounds were fired. The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division has been assigned to handle the investigation, the outlet reported.

Rihanna, whose legal name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, lives at the property with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, and their three children. Variety reported that the couple’s children are named RZA, Riot, and Rocki.

The motive for the attack was not immediately clear, and the investigation remained ongoing as of Sunday evening, according to the LAPD.

Aerial footage broadcast by local news stations showed the front gate of the property, where bullet holes were clearly visible., where bullet holes were clearly visible.

As of Sunday night, the suspect remained in custody and had not been formally charged, according to Fox News.
