Cher’s Son Elijah Blue Allman Arrested for New Hampshire Break-In

There are arrests that make headlines because they’re serious. Then there are arrests that make headlines because they’re so bizarre you can’t look away. The story of Elijah Blue Allman, Cher’s 49-year-old son, getting busted twice in one weekend in New Hampshire falls squarely into the second category. Not because of violence or some grand scheme. Because of how strange and almost absurd the details are. The man broke into a stranger’s house, sat down on her couch, and lit up a cigarette. When police walked in, that’s exactly how they found him.

The 911 Call That Started It All

On the morning of Sunday, March 1, 2026, Windham police received a 911 call from a woman who was whispering from inside her own closet. She told dispatchers that someone had broken into her home on Ministerial Road, not far from Cobbetts Pond. She could hear a man inside the house. Dispatch confirmed they could hear a male voice in the background while the woman was on the line. Officers rushed to the scene.

When police arrived, they found fresh footprints in the snow leading to the back door of the home. The glass pane in the rear door had been completely shattered. Broken glass was scattered across the ground outside and on the floor inside. According to an affidavit, the suspect had used loppers to break the window and gain entry. An unknown vehicle was also parked on the property.

And then came the scene that no one could have predicted. An officer walked into the living room and found Elijah Blue Allman, the son of one of the most famous women on Earth, casually seated on the couch, smoking a cigarette like he was at home on a lazy Sunday morning.

His Explanation Didn’t Add Up

When officers took Allman into custody (without incident, because apparently he wasn’t in any rush to go anywhere), he offered an explanation. He told police that the homeowner had given him permission “to enter the residence and break the door.” Both the woman who had called 911 from her closet and her husband denied that claim entirely. They had no idea who this man was.

A police report noted that Allman had also dropped a lit cigarette on a rug inside the home, leaving a burn mark. Nothing appeared to have been stolen, but the damage was real. The burn on the rug plus the shattered door added up. The door damage alone was estimated at $1,700, which bumped the criminal mischief charge up to a felony. Total estimated damage came to around $2,700.

Allman, who lists his address as Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California, has no known connection to Windham, New Hampshire, or to the homeowners. Nobody can explain why he was there.

This Was His Second Arrest in Three Days

Here’s where it gets even wilder. The Windham break-in wasn’t even Allman’s first run-in with New Hampshire law enforcement that weekend. Just two days earlier, on Friday, February 27, he had been arrested at St. Paul’s School, one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the country, located in Concord, about 35 miles north of Windham.

According to police, Allman was driven onto the campus by another individual around 6 p.m. that evening. He walked into the school’s dining hall as students were leaving. He reportedly smoked a cigarette inside the dining hall while interacting with students and, according to the police report, began “exhibiting some odd behaviors” and making inappropriate comments to girls at the school. A safety officer was able to push him outside of the hall.

Before officers arrived, dispatch reported that Allman was sitting inside a black Volkswagen Jetta outside a dorm on Rectory Road with a woman in her late 40s and was armed with a cane. After investigating, police determined he had assaulted people with that cane during the incident.

The “Prospective Parent” Claim

One of the stranger details from the St. Paul’s incident is how Allman apparently got access in the first place. According to a message sent to parents by school officials, Allman told staff that he was a “prospective parent” looking into the school for his child. There’s one problem with that story. Allman, who is reportedly separated from his wife, singer Marieangela “Queenie” King, has no known children.

St. Paul’s School addressed the incident in their communication to parents, saying they plan to update staff training and reinforce visitor protocols. They also added a somewhat defensive note: “While this event was serious, it would not have garnered media attention if it were not for Mr. Allman’s celebrity status.” Fair point, maybe. But a guy walking into a boarding school dining hall, smoking, making inappropriate comments to teenage girls, and hitting people with a cane would probably make local news regardless of who his mother is.

The Charges Keep Stacking Up

Between the two incidents, Allman racked up nearly a dozen charges. For the St. Paul’s School incident on February 27, he was hit with two counts of simple assault, one count of criminal trespass, one count of criminal threatening, and a violation of disorderly conduct. He was taken to the county jail and then released on personal recognizance.

That release is what makes the Sunday arrest even worse. For the Windham break-in on March 1, he was charged with felony burglary, felony criminal mischief, misdemeanor criminal mischief, and breach of bail. That last charge exists specifically because he had just been released from the Concord arrest two days prior and was supposed to be staying out of trouble. He did not stay out of trouble.

Allman was arraigned on March 2 at Salem District Court and was ordered held on preventive detention. He is currently incarcerated at the Rockingham County Department of Corrections in Brentwood, New Hampshire.

Court Proceedings Hit a Snag

A probable cause hearing that was scheduled for Wednesday was continued to an undetermined date after Allman obtained an attorney that same morning. His lawyer, Sarah Landres, did not respond to media requests for comment. Allman is also due in Concord District Court on April 20 for the St. Paul’s School charges. So he’s looking at two separate court cases in two different New Hampshire jurisdictions, all stemming from one very bad weekend.

Cher Responds With a Renewed Conservatorship Push

In the wake of everything that happened in New Hampshire, Cher filed a second request for a temporary conservatorship over her son in April 2026. This wasn’t her first attempt. Back in December 2023, the 79-year-old pop icon filed a petition to become a temporary conservator overseeing Allman’s finances, arguing that he was unable to manage his own money and that any funds he received from his late father Gregg Allman’s trust fund (roughly $120,000 per year) would be immediately spent on drugs.

Allman disputed his mother’s claims at the time, and a Los Angeles Superior Court judge denied the emergency request, saying she wasn’t convinced a conservatorship was urgently needed. Allman’s attorneys argued he was in a good place, attending meetings, and getting treatment. In September 2024, Cher and Allman reached an agreement and the conservatorship bid was dropped.

But the New Hampshire incidents appear to have changed the calculus entirely. Cher has not issued a public statement about the arrests, and neither have her representatives. The renewed conservatorship filing speaks loudly enough on its own.

Who Is Elijah Blue Allman?

For anyone who doesn’t know the name, Elijah Blue Allman is the only child of Cher and the late Gregg Allman, co-founder of the Allman Brothers Band. Cher and Gregg were married from 1975 to 1979. Gregg passed away in 2017 at 69. Elijah is also the half-brother of Chaz Bono, Cher’s son with first husband Sonny Bono.

Allman is a musician in his own right. He’s the singer and guitarist for the rock band Deadsy, which formed in 1995 and has released five records. In a 2014 interview, he admitted that he started using drugs at age 11 and battled heroin addiction for years before getting sober in 2008. In 2013, he married singer Marieangela “Queenie” King. The two are reportedly now separated.

Cher herself addressed the complicated relationship on a September 2024 episode of Dr. Phil, saying: “He and I have such a bizarre relationship. We’ve had so many strange moments. I don’t really understand him.”

No One Knows Why He Was in New Hampshire

Maybe the most puzzling piece of this entire story is the location. Allman lives in Malibu. He has no known connection to New Hampshire. Not to Concord. Not to Windham. Not to St. Paul’s School. Not to the home on Ministerial Road. He didn’t know the homeowners. He wasn’t a prospective parent. He has no children. Nobody has been able to explain what brought him to southern New Hampshire in late February, and Allman himself hasn’t offered any clarification that holds up.

What we’re left with is a 49-year-old man, the son of an American icon, sitting in a stranger’s living room in a small New Hampshire town, smoking a cigarette on the couch while the homeowner hid in her closet and called 911. It’s the kind of story that sounds made up. But it’s not. And it’s the kind of situation that suggests someone who is very clearly not in control of what happens next in his own life. Cher seems to agree, which is why the conservatorship paperwork is moving again. Whether a judge will see it her way this time remains to be seen.
