Bonnie Rotten, the estranged wife of television personality and motorcycle mogul Jesse James, was arrested Saturday night in Texas on a charge of assault causing bodily injury involving a family member. The adult film star, whose legal name is Alaina James, was booked into the Hays County Jail on March 14, 2026, according to jail records obtained by TMZ via Fox Bangor.
The arrest was classified as warrantless and on-view, indicating that authorities either witnessed the alleged incident firsthand or determined they had probable cause upon arriving at the scene. Rotten’s bond was set at $3,000. Details about the specific circumstances of the alleged assault, including the identity of the family member involved, have not been publicly disclosed.
Representatives for both James and Rotten were contacted for comment by multiple outlets but neither had publicly responded at the time of reporting. The arrest adds another volatile chapter to what has already been a turbulent and highly publicized relationship between the couple, one marked by mutual accusations of domestic abuse and repeated legal filings.
James, 56, the founder of West Coast Choppers and CEO of Jesse James Firearms Unlimited — both based in Austin, Texas — married Rotten in June 2022, according to The Blast. She is his fifth wife. The couple welcomed a son, Bishop Morrison James, in June 2023. But the marriage quickly showed signs of fracture. According to The Blast, James and Rotten filed for divorce twice before the end of 2022, only to withdraw both filings.
The relationship appeared to stabilize for a time before unraveling again in late 2024. Rotten filed for divorce from James in November of that year, listing their date of separation as November 5, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly. At the time of the filing, she was 31 years old and James was 55.
What followed was a flurry of competing legal actions. Both James and Rotten accused each other of domestic abuse during the divorce proceedings, with each filing for protective orders claiming the other had committed family violence, as TMZ reported. James filed for a restraining order in response to Rotten’s divorce petition and her own temporary restraining order request, asking the court to keep her 100 feet away from him and their child until a custody hearing could be held.
In his filings, James also requested that a guardian ad litem be appointed for their son and that Rotten’s sobriety be evaluated. He asked the court to grant her visitation with Bishop only while sober, according to court documents reported by Yahoo. Rotten, meanwhile, requested child support, the ability to change her last name back to Hicks, and for the court to seal all records. She also sought exclusive use of her 2022 Dodge Ram TRX and wanted to prohibit James from tracking its location.
Then, in a surprising turn, both parties appeared to step back from the brink. On January 6, 2025, James and Rotten filed a notice of nonsuit, and the court declared their divorce case closed. James had also filed a response on December 5, 2024, that included a co-parenting program certification, suggesting efforts at reconciliation or at least cooperation.
The latest arrest, however, signals that the couple’s troubles are far from resolved. As Primetimer noted, the charge of assault causing bodily injury to a family member is a serious allegation under Texas law, potentially carrying significant legal consequences.
James has long been a fixture in tabloid headlines. Born April 19, 1969, in Long Beach, California, he rose to fame through his custom motorcycle business and the Discovery Channel series “Monster Garage.” He was previously married to actress Sandra Bullock — they wed on July 16, 2005 — before their marriage ended amid a widely covered infidelity controversy, according to Wikipedia.
Rotten, who built her career in the adult entertainment industry, became James’ fifth wife when they married in 2022, according to Yahoo Entertainment. Their relationship has since generated a steady stream of public legal disputes and allegations that show no sign of quieting.
It remains unclear whether the Saturday arrest will prompt new divorce proceedings or additional protective orders. No court date related to the assault charge has been publicly announced.
